Pau Codina, cello

Pau Codina er født i 1988 i Barcelona og begyndte sine cellostudier som 5-årig hos Eulàlia Subirà (Manlleu, Barcelona). Han er uddannet fra Yehudi Menuhin School, Guildhall School of Music and Drama og Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth, hvor han studerede med Louise Hopkins og Gary Hoffman.

Han har optrådt i hele Europa og på mange prestigefyldte steder som Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Barbican Hall, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Flagey, Bozar, Pau Casals Auditorium, L'Auditori de Barcelona og Palau de la Música Catalana Concert Hall i Barcelona, både som solist og kammermusiker. Han har optrådt som solist med orkestre som Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra of Budapest, Chamber Orchestra of Wallonie, RTVE Orchestra i Madrid, Barcelona Symphony Orchestra og Andorra Chamber Orchestra. Han indspillede også Saint-Saens Suite op.16 for cello og orkester med Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liege under ledelse af Christian Arming på pladeselskabet Fuga Libera, og for nylig opførte han Robert Schumanns cellokoncert i a-mol op.129 med Camera Musicae Orchestra (det nuværende Franz Schubert Philharmonia) under ledelse af Salvador Mas.

Away from the concert platform, Pau has won several competitions and awards, such as the MBF’s Guilhermina Suggia Award, the Kronberg Cello Festival Schlosskonzert Prize, both the third prize as well as the Critique’s Award in the Primer Palau Competition in Barcelona, and the first prize in the Concurso Permanente competition of Jeunesses Musicales of Spain.
Nowadays, Pau Codina is a member of the Esbjerg Ensemble, Oculi Ensemble and Trio Fortuny.
